Description: Nocturne tour through the historical Center of São João del Rei, with explanations about the sights during the journey and also staging of traditional legends from our town (around 7 legends)

Languages: Portuguese, with the possibility of having the guided tour in English and Spanish, provided that the legends are in Portuguese or only narrated, rather than played.

Place: The tour starts in front of Rosário’s church.

Description: Mixture of guided visit and staging, the 'Spectacle Visit to The Municipal Theatre' offers the visitor a different tour along the beautiful theather built in 1893. Combining historical, visual, and theatrical information, the conduction shows to the guest all places in the theather, from the facade to behind the scene, from the light booth to the dressing rooms, passing by the Italian stage, with its "hiding places" and machinery. The visit, which also includes a brief narration about the history of the theatrical activity in the town and the narration of some causos (popular stories) occurred at Teatro Municipal. It culminates in the performance of scenes from the play "A Capital Federal" (The Federal Capital), by six actors and a pianist. The interaction with the visitors and the humour present in the scenes bring to the performance a pleasant atmosphere, rarely found in such kind of visit.

Descrição: Misto de visita guiada e encenação teatral, a Visita-Espetáculo ao Teatro Municipal oferece ao
visitante um passeio diferenciado pelo belo teatro erguido em 1893. Alternando informações históricas, visuais e teatrais, a condução apresenta ao visitante todos os recantos do Teatro, da fachada aos bastidores, da cabine de luz aos camarins, passando pelo palco italiano, com seus “esconderijos” e maquinário. A visitação, que também inclui breve relato sobre a história da atividade teatral da cidade e a contação de “causos” ocorridos no Teatro Municipal, culmina com a apresentação de cenas da peça “A Capital Federal”, por seis atores e um pianista. A interação com os visitantes e o humor das cenas apresentadas trazem para o atrativo um tom lúdico e leve raramente encontrado neste tipo de visita.

A FAM Tour has just happened in Sao Joao del Rei, with the presence of a group of specialists in international education. The visitors marveled at the beauty of the city and praised the local language schools. On a visit to the campuses, they were also impressed by the size, complexity and organization of the Federal University of Sao Joao del Rei. The photos above show visits to the Baptista Caetano Library of Rare Books and Arthur Azevedo Theater Club Archives, guided by Prof. Alberto Tibaji; The Koelreuter Foundation, by Prof. Nichola Dittrich; UFSJ Cultural Center, by Vice-Provost Prof. Marcos Vieira, and the UFSJ General Presentation done by Prof. Adelaine LaGuardia, Director of International Relations.
